Sorry, I Suck!

I am truly sorry my blog has fallen by the wayside but I had some extremely real things going on in my life and the life of my surrounding family. My mother-in-law has died of cancer on Black Friday of this year. In her wake she left 7 children, 12 grandchildren and a very, very unhappy son-in-law. Our relationship didn't start on solid ground but after a couple of years she warmed up to the idea of having a Hispanic Communist in the family. The last 6 years were pretty awesome in which we shared a very cool "You don't fuck with me I don't fuck with you attitude". My family never needed while she lived and now that she has passed nothing has changed. A truly inspiring person who spanned 51 years of marriage with the same man and raised 3 decades worth of children. A un tiring caregiver to my father-in-law and then to her oldest son who due to some medical malpratice suffered a crippling injury to his brain, she always had time to spend with her family and friends. On many occasions she donated heavily to charities and preservation societies and to the church, even though they were dicks to her. I never tired of her "Yoo-Hooing" me to get some project started or her stories of some young, hot spanish guy who was hitting on her when she was younger. She always laughed and smiled with people she never knew and told them long stories about her grandchildren even though they didn't seem to care. She was taken so quickly from us that it still seems surreal walking into her house. I still expect her to come shuffling out of the back and asking me to open some jar or medicine bottle because of her arthritic fingers. Or asking me if the kids would like some clothes she bought while she was out shopping. It comes crashing down on me during the weirdest moments. I only knew her for 12 years which doesn't seem like long but I will feel her presence until the day I pass... Goodnight Mom.
